Birthday & Private Parties

Parties are hosted at Backyartists Art Studio at 8 Medford Street in Arlington Center. Projects will include 3 stations of open-ended art and sensory play, which children can use collaboratively. Please click on “What to Expect” for more information about themes.

If we are not available on your preferred party date, we can also prepare a “party to go.” We would work with you to decide on the projects, package up all of the materials needed with set up and clean up directions, and collect the cleaned materials back after the party. "Party to go" projects are best suited for children ages 2-5 and focus on collaborative sensory play.

Parties are 1.5 hours long and include an hour for 3 stations of fun and messy projects and a half hour of time for food and/or cake (which will be provided by the party host family). To keep our art stations clean and allergen friendly, we ask that all food and desserts be served during the last half hour of the party, after the art stations have closed.  Thank you! When booking a party, families may choose from our offered themes, which include rainbows, transportation, space, magical creatures (unicorns, dragons, and/or mermaids), dinosaurs, celebration, Taylor Swift, Wicked (NEW!), or Adopt a Pet ($50 extra fee). You may choose your own custom theme for an additional $100 fee to cover planning time, cost of materials, and setup. After art and sensory play, we will gather the children together for a story and the singing of Happy Birthday. The last half hour of any party is reserved for food provided by the party family. Families are responsible for trash removal for pizza boxes and any large platters.

For a party at Backyartists Art Studio: $500 for up to 10 children. Each additional child is $15 and we can go up to a maximum of 15 children, with 12-13 children being the ideal number. Capacity allows for up to 1 caregiver per child (with the exception of the birthday child’s family). Parties last 1.5 hours, with one hour for projects and half an hour for food. Decorations, paper goods, and food to be supplied by the party host family. Birthday party favors can be provided for an additional cost.

A non-refundable deposit of $150 is to be paid when the party is reserved. The balance is due at the time of the party. A headcount is required one week before the party date. At that time, an invoice will be sent and headcounts are final.

For “parties to go,” prices begin at $150. Please contact us to discuss further.

How far in advance do I need to book my birthday party? Please contact us at least two weeks in advance when booking a birthday party. We need time to plan, order supplies, and create the stations for your party. Additional fees may apply to parties booked with less than two weeks' notice. Please email us with any questions. We are excited to work with you!

What if I need to cancel my party? Parties may be cancelled in the first 48 hours after booking. After that there are no refunds. If Backyartists needs to cancel your party for any reason, you may choose to reschedule your party for a mutually agreeable date. If rescheduling is not possible and we (Backyartists, LLC) have had to cancel, you will not be charged a fee and any deposits will be refunded.

What about party favors? Yes! We can create party favors for you to pass out to your party guests. These typically range in price from $10-$15 each, and come packaged in cellophane bags with gift tags from the birthday child. We can design favors around your party theme. We will need a rough headcount two weeks prior, and a final headcount a week before the party, so we can order materials and create your favors.

We ask that all attendees be free of any sickness symptoms. We ask children to wash or sanitize their hands upon entering the studio.
